PENRO MARINDUQUE IN ACTION: DOUBLE APPREHENSION

Mogpog, Marinduque- On January 12, 2019, at around 9:25 AM, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Imelda M. Diaz together with Forest Technician (FT) Michael Vencint Sualog,  FT John Andrew Magculang and Forest Ranger Randy Estrella while conducting site visit and aerial video documentation of mangrove forest plantation at Brgy. Ino, Mogpog, Marinduque, they heard a chainsaw operating in the area. Following where the sound of the chainsaw was coming from, the team proceeded and saw one (1) felled Mango (Mangifera indica) along the national road and immediately ordered the chainsaw operator to stop the cutting activity. Upon verification, they found out that the tree will be affected by road widening. However, the said chainsaw apprehended due to the absence of proof of registration.

Few minutes later, a concerned citizen informed PENRO Diaz via text messages of an on-going illegal cutting at Brgy. Nangka II, also in the Municipality of Mogpog. The team went to the area and found abandoned freshly-sawn Antipolo (Artocarpus blancoi) lumbers with a total volume of 219 board feet.

The PENRO requested the assistance of Philippine National Police (PNP) Mogpog, specifically in the hauling of apprehended forest products.

The apprehension of abandoned illegally-cut forest products are subject to Administrative Adjudication Proceedings for its final disposition pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 97-32 and PD 705.

With this incident, the DENR recognized the important role of the private citizen’s ad partner law enforcers in the success of our implementation of environment and natural resources (ENR) laws. This Office call for more active participation and vigilance of our community. mgpmaniquiz2019

2 PENRO MARINDUQUE PERSONNEL GET COMMENDATION

Two DENR PENRO Marinduque personnel have received commendation for their exemplary efficiency, dedication and commitment to quality public service which serves as inspiration for the DENR family in the province of Marinduque and MIMAROPA Region.

DENR MIMAROPA Region had commended the work done by the two pesonnel after receiving a letter from Mr. Lazaro M. Garcia expressing his utmost appreciation for the prompt action made by the two personnel on his complaint.

EMS II Rolando Z. Capistrano and EnMO Jonathan Motol, both personnel from EMB that are currently assigned at PENRO Marinduque, were commended on clearing a rotting junk vehicle that has been in a small bridge in Barangay Mercado, Boac, Marinduque for the past 20 years.

Mr. Lazaro M. Garcia, a resident of Barangay Isok 1, Boac, Marinduque had reported the said junk vehicle to PENRO Marinduque after no actions undertaken by the concerned Local Government Units. Proper coordination and validation were done between the concerned LGUs and the respondent before the clearing activity.

On October 20, 2018, EMS II Capistrano and EnMO Motol spearheaded the immediate clearing of the unserviceable and rotten vehicle. The vehicle was finally removed and bought by a junkshop in Boac.

Upon the resolution of the complaint, Mr. Lazaro had sent his message of appreciation to EMS II Capistrano, and he quote "Thanks a lot. I know kayo sa DENR and makakasolve nito. U [You] spared me from the trouble of filing a formal complaint. Kudos to you & Jonathan! Susunod na ang petition namin kay mayor na irestore ang garbage collection sa area namin which is also a concern of DENR".

MOGPOG, Marinduque — In celebration of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month with the theme ‘Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo’ and 35th DENR Anniversary, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO)-Marinduque organized a Bike and Tree Planting Activity with the theme ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan, Magtanim para sa Kinabukasan’ on Friday, June 10.

The bike activity kicked off at the Marinduque Provincial Sports Complex in Boac, going to Tabi-Buliasnin-Maligaya-Nangka-Laon service roads up to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) area in Barangay Capayang, Mogpog where the tree planting activity took place.

Present in the said event were different biker groups, national government agencies, provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and advocates involved in supporting environmental activities.

Imelda Diaz, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer said that one of the objectives of the event is to encourage participation of various stakeholders in rehabilitating and protecting the ecosystem through eco-friendly means of transportation, responsible ecotourism, reforestation and other good practices.
