PENRO-MARINDUQUE INAUGURATES NEW ERECTED OFFICE BUILDING

Last Nov. 3, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Marinduque inaugurated its new office building at Capitol Compound, Bangbangalon, Boac.

Aside from Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Imelda M. Diaz, other high-ranking officials of the province like Cong. Lord Allan Q. Velasco and Gov. Carmencita O. Reyes were together on the event to initiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Even the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) -MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Vicente B. Tuddao, Jr. and other department heads from different agencies and offices also attended the rite which was followed by the unveiling of marker of the new building.

A mass service was also conducted which was led by Bishop Marcelino Antonio M. Maralit, DD and was followed by blessing the premises.

The anew storey building is currently being used by other PENRO staff from technical services who serve as Diaz's counterpart in implementing essential services and PENRO’s programs all throughout the province.

Diaz is very much thankful that the dream of their agency to have a safe, clean and well-equipped office to provide good and efficient service to people has been carried out before this year ends.

The department now expects to complete the design of the second-floor by 2018. ###

PROVINCE OF MARINDUQUE TO VENTURE IN BAMBOO INDUSTRY

"Kung magtutulong-tulong tayo, magagawa natin", says Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco in his inspirational message during the Bamboo Roadshow held at Marinduque State College Audio Visual Room on July 20, 2017.

Congressman Velasco is pushing for the bamboo industry in the Province of Marinduque through convergence of the different Government Agencies, Non-Government Agencies, Academe, People's Organization, private sector and other stakeholders. His vision to make Marinduque the bamboo capital of the Philippines has directed to organize the said activity through the Department of Trade Industry (DTI) in collaboration with the Marinduque State College (MSC) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Marinduque.

The said Bamboo Roadshow was conducted to impart the greater picture of the bamboo industry nowadays. Venturing into Bamboo industry is a good livelihood opportunity for the communities.However, its potential can be fully attained through continued collaboration between government and the private sector in making roadmaps for its growth and development.

Meanwhile, PENRO Imelda M. Diaz, in her message, calls for support among stakeholders and partners in this endeavor. She empahized that the convergence is a collaboration among various stakeholders which plays important roles in the protection and conservation of the environment and natural resources. She also added the sustainable integrated area development approach adopted by the DENR in order to attain sustainable livelihood among communities to lessen the pressure on natural resources like wood/timber products and to promote ecotourism development as well.    

"Pangalagaan natin ang ating kalikasan at aalagaan din nila tayo", said PENRO Diaz as she concluded her message.

Lastly, President of the Philippine Bamboo Foundation, Inc. Edgardo C. Manda and his staff discussed the sustainable bamboo production, management, utilization and marketing to benefit the communities through different bamboo products. ###

MOGPOG, Marinduque — In celebration of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month with the theme ‘Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo’ and 35th DENR Anniversary, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO)-Marinduque organized a Bike and Tree Planting Activity with the theme ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan, Magtanim para sa Kinabukasan’ on Friday, June 10.

The bike activity kicked off at the Marinduque Provincial Sports Complex in Boac, going to Tabi-Buliasnin-Maligaya-Nangka-Laon service roads up to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) area in Barangay Capayang, Mogpog where the tree planting activity took place.

Present in the said event were different biker groups, national government agencies, provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and advocates involved in supporting environmental activities.

Imelda Diaz, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer said that one of the objectives of the event is to encourage participation of various stakeholders in rehabilitating and protecting the ecosystem through eco-friendly means of transportation, responsible ecotourism, reforestation and other good practices.
