MARINDUQUE TWG FOR SIAD CONVENES ITS FIRST MEETING
Few days after the Two-Day Orientation on Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) cum Stakeholder's Consultation at Pinky's Taha, Beach Resort, Pangi, Gasan, Marinduque on February 10-11, 2017, the Technical Working Group (TWG) for SIAD convened its first meeting on February 27, 2017 at Goodchow Dining and Function Hall, Boac, Marinduque
An invited Learning Event Service Faciliatator Eulogio "Jules" Penales, President of Green Resources Incorporated (GRI) lively discussed the SIAD approach connecting it with the social aspects of an individual and community. He cited that the TWG should be fully equipped to get the community to participate in the responsibility by promoting economic benefits and sustainability of the program.Few days after the Two-Day Orientation on Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) cum Stakeholder’s Consultation at Pinky’s Taha, Beach Resort, Pangi, Gasan, Marinduque on February 10-11, 2017, the Technical Working Group (TWG) for SIAD convened its first meeting on February 27, 2017 at Goodchow Dining and Function Hall, Boac, Marinduque.
Afterwards, Protected Area Superintendent Efren L. Delos Reyes presented the thematic map of Marinduque showing the DENR Projects and tenurial instruments as well as the delineated areas in the different ecosystem that will complement at the landscape level.
During the afternoon, a simple plenary workshop was facilitated, dividing the group into National Agency, LGUs and CSOs. Groups were tasked to identify interventions and projects under their prerogative including its timeframe.
Lastly, OIC, PENRO Imelda M. Diaz thanked everyone for the collective efforts and enthusiasm in the SIAD Marinduque undertakings. ###
DENR MARINDUQUE TAKES-OFF FOR THE SIAD IMPLEMENTATION
In line with the DENR’s new policy direction to adopt Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) strategy, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO) -Marinduque organized a Two-Day Orientation on Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) cum Stakeholder’s Consultation at Pinky’s Taha, Beach Resort, Pangi, Gasan, Marinduque on February 10-11, 2017, facilitated by Dolores Nuevas, GIZ Senior Coordinator on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA).
During the first day, Ms. Nuevas appealed to the participants through the words “Appreciate, Internalize and Act!” which according to her was the objective of the orientation. The SIAD is a policy framework for localizing development, promoting environmental integrity while creating social enterprise thru Integrated Environmental Management (IEM) approach which intends to create Ridge to Reef approach.
Afterwards, Jhoanne Kris Sager, representative of the Provincial Planning Development Office (PPDO) presented the Status of the Enhanced Provincial Development Physical Framework Plan of Marinduque CY 2016-2025.
Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, Dr. Vicente B. Tuddao, Jr. presented the overview, principles and guidelines in the implementation of SIAD approach. His discussion includes the steps in the formulation of SIAD plan giving emphasis on the importance of stakeholders’ participation, assessment of area while taking into consideration the importance of identifying river basins and watershed during the plan preparation. It was followed by the inspiring words, encouragements and visions of Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco for Marinduque, uttering his love for the province. He emphasized that Marinduque can be a potential tourist destination if there is a clear vision for tourism development. He further explained his economic plans for the province highlighting the major role of bamboo industry that he intended to introduce in the province through the SIAD approach.
During the workshop proper, the stakeholders composed of National Government Agencies (NGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) were grouped into three category namely: Ridge/Upland/Forest, Agricultural Landscapes and Coastal/Marine Ecosystem Group based on the type of ecosystem particular in their municipality. They were to identify the characteristics of the area, attributes and strengths of their ecosystem that will emanate development.
On the second day, the stakeholders mapping was conducted. The three groups (based on grouping in Day 1) were tasked to identify and discuss particular roles and linkages of each stakeholder in the implementation of the SIAD. Also, they were to come up with intervention that will facilitate in the achievement of goals and aspiration of the program. Then, outputs were presented through a group representative and consolidated by the facilitator.
Lastly, OIC, PENRO Imelda M. Diaz identified stakeholders who will be part of the SIAD Technical Working Group (TWG) that will provide assistance in the SIAD Team in the smooth implementation of the program.###
More than 400 bikers in Marinduque take part in protecting the environment
MOGPOG, Marinduque — In celebration of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month with the theme ‘Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo’ and 35th DENR Anniversary, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO)-Marinduque organized a Bike and Tree Planting Activity with the theme ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan, Magtanim para sa Kinabukasan’ on Friday, June 10.
The bike activity kicked off at the Marinduque Provincial Sports Complex in Boac, going to Tabi-Buliasnin-Maligaya-Nangka-Laon service roads up to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) area in Barangay Capayang, Mogpog where the tree planting activity took place.
Present in the said event were different biker groups, national government agencies, provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and advocates involved in supporting environmental activities.
Imelda Diaz, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer said that one of the objectives of the event is to encourage participation of various stakeholders in rehabilitating and protecting the ecosystem through eco-friendly means of transportation, responsible ecotourism, reforestation and other good practices.
