SECRETARY ROY A. CIMATU UNVEILS THE CENTENNIAL MONUMENT OF MARINDUQUE

Boac Marinduque- On February 19, 2020, Secretary Roy A. Cimatu of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was the Guest of Honor in the Centennial Celebration of the Province of Marinduque. In his speech during the unveiling of the centennial monument, he urged the continuous restoration of Boac and Mogpog Rivers as these are the bodies of water highly affected by the Marcopper mining disaster incident on March 24, 1996.

Secretary Roy A. Cimatu was warmly welcomed by the people of Marinduque and had  meet and greet with officials and employees of the Provincial and Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) spearheaded by Imelda M. Diaz, OIC-PENR Officer, together with Henry A. Adonardo, Regional Executive Director of DENR MIMAROPA Region, Atty. Wilfredo S. Moncano, Acting Director of Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and Engr. Roland A. De Jesus, MGB MIMAROPA Regional Director.

Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco, Hon. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr., Governor of Marinduque, and Vice-Governor Romulo A. Bacorro Jr., and members of Sanguniang Panlalawigan and Heads of various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Officials   were also present in the event and expressed their support to DENR programs, projects and activities towards the sustainable conservation, protection and management of the environment and natural resources of the province.

According to Sec. Cimatu he ordered all officials and employees of the Department to regularly conduct monitoring and inspection of air quality, water quality and proper waste disposal of six (6) Municipalities of Marinduque.

Likewise, he encouraged the establishment and operation of a sanitary landfill of Local Government Units (LGUs) even by cluster of municipalities to mitigate the aggravating garbage collection and disposal problem in the Province. ###

DENR MARINDUQUE CONDUCTS HANDOG TITULO PROGRAM

Boac Marinduque- In celebration of the Lands Anniversary and Pursuant to DENR Memorandum Circular (DMC) No. 2019-04 issued by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu pertaining to the conduct of simultaneous distribution of land titles to beneficiaries, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Marinduque headed by Imelda M. Diaz, OIC-PENR Officer, distributed Free Patent Titles to about 561 beneficiaries (232 Residential, 329 Agricultural) in cooperation with the Local Government Officials of the province and the Registry of Deeds under the DENR's “Handog Titulo Program” on September 27, 2019.

The event was graced by Hon. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr., Governor of Marinduque and Local Officials of the six (6) Municipalities of the province, Hon. Armi D.C. Carrion-Mayor of Boac, Hon. Antonio Uy, Jr. Mayor of Sta. Cruz and local officials of the municipalities of Mogpog, Torrijos, Buenavista and Gasan, Forester Cesar P. Odi, OIC-Chief, LPPDD from MIMAROPA Region and Leonardo Mendoza, Register of Deeds.

PENRO Diaz, in her opening message emphasized the importance of Handog Titulo Program: “Sa ngalan ng Provincial Environment and Natural Resources - Marinduque at ng DENR-MIMAROPA Region nais ko pong ipalaganap ninyo ang aming programa ng pagbibigay ng libreng titulo, libreng sukat para makatulong sa mamayang pilipino, " she said.

Likewise, Mayor Armi DC. Carrion in her message, appreciated the conduct of the activity." Ang pagbibigay ng ganitong programa Handog Titulo, ay malaking tulong sa ating mga kababayan. Marapat lamang po na ating pahalagahan at pangalagaan dahil dito tayo kumukuha ng pang araw araw na pangangailangan.  Sulong BOAC! ", Mayor Carrion said.

Lastly, the Guest of Honor, Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. gave his message before the actual distribution of Free Patents to beneficiaries. Part of his message says  “Napakagandang programa ang “Handog Titulo Program” ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Marinduque kasama ang Registry of Deeds at Local Government Units. Ang lupa na ihahandog sa inyo ay gamitin nyo sa magandang paraan gaya ng taniman, mag-alaga ng baboy, manok at baka, upang makatulong sa ating kaunlaran, sa bayan at sa pamilya. May batas din po tayo na kapag hindi ginagamit ang lupa ay papatawan kayo ng 5% idle land tax. Nais ko rin pong ipaalala sa inyo  na  kailangan kayong  magbayad  ng property Tax.  Nawa po ay pagyamanin at mahalin natin ang ating lupa para pagdating ng panahon ay may magamit pa ang ating mga pamilya.  MABUHAY Marinduque".

Both beneficiaries and LGUs expressed their support to “Handog Titulo Program”. One of the interviewed beneficiaries said that the Program really helped them especially those who cannot afford the cost of land survey by private surveyor.

MOGPOG, Marinduque — In celebration of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month with the theme ‘Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo’ and 35th DENR Anniversary, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO)-Marinduque organized a Bike and Tree Planting Activity with the theme ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan, Magtanim para sa Kinabukasan’ on Friday, June 10.

The bike activity kicked off at the Marinduque Provincial Sports Complex in Boac, going to Tabi-Buliasnin-Maligaya-Nangka-Laon service roads up to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) area in Barangay Capayang, Mogpog where the tree planting activity took place.

Present in the said event were different biker groups, national government agencies, provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and advocates involved in supporting environmental activities.

Imelda Diaz, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer said that one of the objectives of the event is to encourage participation of various stakeholders in rehabilitating and protecting the ecosystem through eco-friendly means of transportation, responsible ecotourism, reforestation and other good practices.
