DENR-PENRO MARINDUQUE JOINS THE 3RD QUARTER 2020 NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

On September 10, 2020, the virtual 3rd Quarter 2020 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) was held via ZOOM amidst COVID-19 pandemic led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of the Office of the Civil Defense. The activity started with the conduct of Information Education Campaign via ZOOM and Facebook live.

At exactly 2:00 in the afternoon, at the sound of the alarm signal, employees of the DENR-PENRO Marinduque led by OIC-PENR Officer Imelda M. Diaz performed the Duck, Cover and Hold technique. This activity aimed to raise awareness on how to respond and prepare during earthquake scenario.

DENR- PENRO Marinduque Participates in the International Youth Day

On August 08, 2020, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Marinduque participated and provided technical assistance in the tree planting activity of SK-Ipil headed by Ibert Oliver P. Regio, during the celebration of the “International Youth Day CY 2020” and Kick-off Activities for Linggo ng Kabataan with the theme “Youth Engagement for Global Action”. Said activity was also participated by Vice- Mayor Geraldine M. Del Rosario, Sangguniang Barangay of Ipil, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, MACEC Youth, Hagibis Riders Club, Elite Lion Riders Club, PO Chair (SAMSI) Sabino Reginio and SK Chairpersons from different barangays and councilors, held at Sitio Bathala II, Tambak Beach, Barangay Ipil, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque.

The PENRO Marinduque also provided 600 Talisay seedlings which were planted along the shoreline of Tambak Beach. They had also planted 2,000 Bacauan propagules in their mangrove area. An IEC Campaign by PENRO was intended to orient the participants on how to properly plant Mangrove propagules and Talisay seedlings. Likewise, encourage them to intensify protection and management of the coastal and marine ecosystems that serve as natural shield against calamities. While most of the participants were planting, other group of youths collected plastics/garbage within the vicinity.

Launched as well during the activity are the Eco- Frontliner and Sagip Kalikasan Project of SK Ipil that includes Bamboo Planting, Oplan Balik- Ilog and the Establishment of Cherry Blossoms Nursery expected to be done this year. And in line with this, the PENRO Marinduque introduced the program “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan”. ###

MOGPOG, Marinduque — In celebration of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month with the theme ‘Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo’ and 35th DENR Anniversary, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO)-Marinduque organized a Bike and Tree Planting Activity with the theme ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan, Magtanim para sa Kinabukasan’ on Friday, June 10.

The bike activity kicked off at the Marinduque Provincial Sports Complex in Boac, going to Tabi-Buliasnin-Maligaya-Nangka-Laon service roads up to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) area in Barangay Capayang, Mogpog where the tree planting activity took place.

Present in the said event were different biker groups, national government agencies, provincial government, local government units, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and advocates involved in supporting environmental activities.

Imelda Diaz, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer said that one of the objectives of the event is to encourage participation of various stakeholders in rehabilitating and protecting the ecosystem through eco-friendly means of transportation, responsible ecotourism, reforestation and other good practices.
